Natalia
Natalia Balabanov is a professional dog trainer, instructor, and the current FMBB IGP World Champion, one of the highest competitive achievements in the sport of working dogs. She has been training professionally since 2013 and has dedicated her life to helping dogs and their owners build exceptional relationships through clear communication, trust, and a deep understanding of learning.
Originally from Poland, Natalia discovered her passion for dog training nearly two decades ago. Her pursuit of excellence took her throughout Europe, where she studied a variety of training methods before relocating permanently to the United States in 2012 to continue developing under the mentorship and coaching of world-renowned trainer Ivan Balabanov.
Today, Natalia is recognized as one of the world's top working dog competitors. She actively competes with her two Belgian Malinois in both IGP and Mondioring—widely considered two of the most technically demanding canine sports in the world. Her accomplishments include representing the United States internationally and earning the title of FMBB IGP World Champion, demonstrating not only technical excellence but the ability to produce dogs that perform with confidence, precision, and enthusiasm at the highest level.
Beyond competition, Natalia serves as an Instructor for the internationally recognized Training Without Conflict® (TWC) program, where she plays a critical role in educating the next generation of professional trainers. She is responsible for conducting and evaluating the practical examinations for TWC students, ensuring graduates demonstrate both technical proficiency and a thorough understanding of the system before earning certification.
At Dog Training of Tampa Bay, Natalia works extensively with family pets, behavior modification cases, puppy development, private coaching, and Board & Train programs. Whether helping owners solve serious behavioral problems or preparing dogs for high-level sport, she applies the same principles that have made her successful on the world stage: clarity, fairness, motivation, and precise communication.
Natalia believes that great dog training is about more than obedience—it is about building relationships based on understanding rather than conflict. Her passion for dogs, commitment to continual learning, and ability to translate complex concepts into practical results have earned the respect of clients, students, and competitors around the world.
